When I know there is a neat little spot of settlement I'm off the road headed in that direction -- like you did in your post. Always something to learn about our country, region or the place we call home. -- BARBARA
P.S. Edmond, OK has, or maybe had, a cobblestone community center when we lived there in the late 1980s. Maybe it was a WPA project, too.Collagemamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03818246340865714754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20637018.post-70427887135182204702009-07-30T11:10:05.244-05:002009-07-30T11:10:05.244-05:00Well, I prefer to think of it as the heartland of ...Well, I prefer to think of it as the heartland of America, not flyover country, but you know me. I love this part of the country.

The museum house is indeed a log house covered over. In fact, its log room was built right after the Civil War, as the new courthouse. The old courthouse (and the entire village, whatever there was of it) was burned during some of the fighting over the river crossing. The river was important because it was a quick, easy route into northern Arkansas.

Sometime over the weekend, I'm going to post some photos of the Hidden Log House Museum's exhibits.Genevieve Netzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08004780820713448880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20637018.post-88887788439015441272009-07-30T09:53:18.757-05:002009-07-30T09:53:18.757-05:00Exactly, Mark.

There are many thousands, even millions of people living their lives and minding their own business and they don't really give a hoot about what's going on in LA or NYC. And neither do I.Marknoreply@blogger.com
