Wild Cherry Blossoms?

Spring blossoms?

I think that these may be wild cherry blossoms. They grow on a spindly, scrubby tree, about 15-20 feet tall, on a dry hillside in the fence row. The blossoms look very similar to wild plum, but I don't think it's a plum bush/tree because it's so much taller than they usually grow. If the little tree ever has fruit, the birds apparently get it before I notice it.

  2. Hi, John. I heard that my hometown in Nebraska got about 8 inches of wet snow, and even here in Kentucky, we had a possibility of snow flurries last night.

  3. I'll hazard a guess that these are blossoms of one of the several wild plum species which grow in the midlands. I usually think of wild cherry as a May bloomer. But then you live farther south than I do, so I may be wrong. Check the fruits later this year!
