Owen West Road
CONTENTMENT: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry, live simply, expect little, give much, sing often, pray always, forget self, think of others and their feelings, fill your heart with love, scatter sunshine. These are the tried links in the golden chain of contentment.

IT IS STILL BEST to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasure; and to be cheerful and have courage when things go wrong.

I love this picture. You have such a great eye for taking pictures. :)
Thank you, Stitchy. Really, I just happened to pass down that road at the right moment. I came over the top of a hill and the car tracks were shining in the sunshine.
Owen West was my great-grandfather. That road leads to the West homeplace.
John, thanks for visiting. I am curious. Was your great-grandfather born and raised there, or did he move there as an adult? And was his place along one of the creeks that the road crosses?
I believe so, at least two generations are from the area. Last i knew, the house is still standing, but it is not by the creek. It is more towards the shiloh church road side off in a big open field. He was dead before i was born, but i knew my great-grandmother, Vera Henderson West well. She died around 1988 i believe. Beautiful farm though, it belongs to Charlie Powell now. I wish it were still in the family.
Lovely picture. I haven't visited your blog in a while, and I miss it. I miss Kentucky, too, though I lived in Madison county for 4 years, not western Kentucky... I am going to have to make a road trip next summer!
Thank you for sharing the autumn photo! :)
John, next time I drive through there, I will watch for the house. Thanks for sharing that information with me. I enjoy knowing a bit about local history.
Laura, I took that photo less than two weeks ago! It's hard to imagine that tonight, everything in the photo would be covered with a blanket of snow.
