The Rural Life...
There's a reason why I'm out and about so early this morning. About 5 a.m., I got up to get a drink. As I reached for the kitchen light, my foot brushed against something fuzzy. Skittles caught a mouse overnight, and not being hungry, she left him for me to admire. I just didn't feel like going back to bed after that.
Isaac told me a few days ago that he thought he might have seen a mouse. We debated on setting a trap or putting out poison, but we were afraid Skittles would come to some harm with them as she's always snooping around. Besides she is such a huntress that we decided we'd wait and see if she could catch it. Well, she did. And I hope that's the only one. I hope there's not a whole nest of them!

Ew! Ew! Ew! Ew! I get so skeeved out by rodents that I think I would just DIE if I brushed one with my foot. My house is kind of getting old (I hesitate to say REALLY old, but about 55 years.) Anyway, I often have the furry intruders too and every time I see one darting about I start thinking about just MOVING and letting them have the place. EW!
We had a couple mice about a year ago when a plumber left a huge hole around some pipes. We got that plugged up, but now we've got a hole in the wall and down to the crawlspace where some wiring was put through. It needs to be sprayed full of foam and then the sheetrock patched. I'm the patcher, so I need to get busy and fix it!
I'd be sneezing. I'm allergic to mice. I had one nest behind my glove box and another in the spare tire compartment when I had a staion wagon. Boy, that was a fun request when I got my car serviced. "Um, can you find and clean out the mice, please?"
I hate the dirty little rodents, and I detest finding one in the house, believe me.
Hey Gene:
I have many mice stories and most are quite funny. Like the time mice got into our appartment when we were first married.
Jo Anne would hear the trap snap in the middle of the night... than send me down to the basement to put out the unlucky little peanut butter snacker.
Traps are the only way! Never, poison mice... you can't find.
Later, ~(:-_))-kfh
I agree about traps, and the old fashioned snap traps are the best because they kill the mouse on the spot. Those glue traps are hours of torture for the poor little mouse. I don't like them in the house but I don't want them to suffer needlessly.
I really can't put out poison because Skittles might catch a half-poisoned one and eat it!
She's on high alert now. I see her nosing around all the time -- on patrol.
