All In The Family... Christian and Lutheran Life...
Dear friends,
It is a couple days early, but I wish you a joyous celebration of Easter.
For Christians whose churches follow the traditional church year, the journey to Easter morning has already begun. Tonight we celebrated Maundy Thursday which is dedicated to remembering the Last Supper that Jesus and his disciples shared.
Tomorrow is Good Friday, a somber day of remembering Jesus's crucifixion and death. Our church will have a tenebrae service, and at the end, the church will be darkened and everyone will leave in silence.
Sunday is Easter, the celebration of Jesus's resurrection! That event is the most important fact of the entire Bible and its celebration is the happiest event of the church year. This "Good News" (the literal meaning of "gospel") is the very essence of Christian faith: Alleluia, Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
For us, it will be a joyous Easter in several ways. We'll actually be celebrating with members of our extended family this year -- Dennis's sister and brother-in-law. Our families are so scattered, that we don't get to spend many holidays together. Bonnie and Ed live in Virginia, and I don't think I've seen Ed for about 20 years so this is a particularly unusual event!
I've been busy all week and the next few days are going to be rather hectic! I've been doing some fairly serious cleaning, planning food, etc. in preparation. I probably won't be spending much (if any) time on the computer for the duration, but I'll be back when life reverts to normal.
Despite all this, I hope to find some quiet moments during the next few days to really think about Jesus Christ. I hope the same for you.
To you and yours, my best wishes for a happy Easter!
Genevieve

Have a special weekend with your family.
Thanks for sharing. It is nice hearing about the family traditions of others. For us outside of Philadelphia, Easter Sunday is often a time when people who have not been to church in ages start thinking about spiritual things. Hopefully those of us who are regulars can create a welcoming presence. I hope you have a special weekend!
Thanks for your good wishes, Collage Mama and Frank. We have had a good weekend, and now I have contracted a fairly major cold and am running a little fever, so I think I'll go to bed tonight instead of trying to get a post together.
